Those plants at the top of the blog are wild lilies of the valley. They’re not regular lilies of the valley; those are bigger and, well, look like lilies. These are pretty much a leaf on a stem, and they were our first garden surprise. We moved to the place we live now in January, and everything was under at least two feet of snow. It melted and left us a beautiful (ha!) view of dead leaves under all the trees. Until thousands of green shoots came up through the leaves. It was so cool. Instead of acres of dead leaves, we could see acres of beautiful, living, growing, green plants popping up. And some had the promise of teeny flowers, too!
Who knew I could get so excited about ground cover?
